Electronic logging device (ELD) requirements in Yukon

The new electronic logging device (ELD) mandate is coming into force – both federally and in Yukon. All Canadian jurisdictions are committed to this mandate.

We recognize the industry's need for enough time to purchase, install and train on the devices that are now required for compliance. We'll be continue to enforce the regulations as normal, except in relation to ELDs. We plan to:

  • support the mandate through a period of progressive enforcement without penalties; and
  • provide education and awareness to commercial carriers.

Any ELD used must be a certified device as approved by Transport Canada. Find a list of approved devices.

The federal Commercial Vehicle Drivers Hours of Service Regulations is a jurisdictional responsibility. For any jurisdiction in which you're driving and operating, it's your responsibility to be aware of all the:

  • regulations; and
  • requirements.

All carriers must still have a Canadian certified ELD unless otherwise exempted by the regulations.
