Students from schools across Whitehorse joined their voices in celebration today at Chante-la ta chanson.
An annual concert held at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, Chante-la ta chanson – or “Sing Your Song” – brings together elementary school children from Core French, Intensive French and French Immersion programs in Whitehorse, as well as those from the French First Language program at École Émilie-Tremblay.
Every school performs a French song selected by their students and all schools participate in a group song at this special event for students, staff and families.
Chante-la ta chanson is a wonderful opportunity for students to show off their language ability and musical talents. Events like this encourage a passion for life-long language learning. This is one example of how our government is committed to offering students various cultural and educational experiences as they learn French as a second language.

The Department of Education’s French Programs unit created Chante-la ta chanson in 2015 to bring together elementary school students to celebrate learning French as a second language and collaborate with French First Language students from École Emile-Tremblay.
