What is an alternative self-isolation plan?
This application is only intended for exceptional cases or specific circumstances where individuals or organizations can demonstrate a valid reason for an alternative to our current requirements for self-isolation. Applications for the sake of convenience will not be considered, neither will requests for exemption from self-isolation.
Your plan needs to:
- demonstrate that you’ve reviewed our requirements and guidelines for self-isolation;
- incorporate them to the greatest extent possible; and
- provide all requested information, and be as precise as possible.
Your plan must not:
- request an exemption from self-isolation;
- request a reduction of the time spent in self-isolation if you plan to stay in Yukon for more than 14 days; and
- propose the use of negative COVID-19 tests results from before or after entering Yukon as an exemption or reduction of time spent in self-isolation.
Before you submit an application for an alternative self-isolation plan, review our requirements for self-isolation. If you are arriving in Yukon after travelling outside Canada, you must follow Government of Canada quarantine regulations.
If you have already reviewed the lists of critical and essential services in Yukon but are unsure whether you qualify as a critical or essential worker, email firstname.lastname@example.org before filling out this application. This application is not meant for pre-approval of self-isolation plans.
How long does it take?
Once your application is submitted, it can take several weeks before you receive a decision, depending on the volume of applications we're processing and the complexity of your application. Applications that are incomplete, or require additional information will take longer to process. Please submit your application as far in advance of planned travel as possible.
In the case of an application for compassionate reasons, we will do our best to prioritize those requests.
Who makes the decision?
The Government of Yukon's Minister of Community Services makes the final decision in consultation with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health. Applications are assessed on the basis of risk to the health and safety of Yukoners.
How can I get an update on the status of my application?
Once you submit your application, you'll be provided with contact information. However, we ask that you only use it to update us if your plans have changed, or you have additional documentation you want to submit in support of your plan.
It can take up to several weeks for an application to be processed. When making travel arrangements, please take this into account.
