  1. Determine if you’re eligible

All pharmacists practising in Yukon must register and hold a Yukon licence.

Apply for registration and a full licence if you are:

    • planning to use the title of pharmacist; and
    • work to the full extent of your training and Yukon regulations.

We accept and process new applications on an ongoing basis. You only need to apply for registration once. But you must renew your licence every year. All pharmacist licences expire annually on March 31.

We may not approve you for registration or licensing if you have had complaints, disciplinary or criminal action against you.

    Eligibility

You can register and apply for a full pharmacist licence if you meet all the following requirements.

    • You hold a current pharmacist licence in another Canadian jurisdiction that is equal to a full pharmacist licence in Yukon.
    • You practised pharmacy in another Canadian jurisdiction in the 2 years before applying for your Yukon licence.
    • You are in good standing in all the jurisdictions you are licensed in.
    • Beginning August 1, 2021, you will also have to successfully complete Yukon’s jurisprudence exam for pharmacists.

  2. Complete the application form

Complete all sections of the application form. Do not leave a section blank. You may enter “not applicable” when it’s relevant. We may return incomplete applications.

  3. Provide all other required supporting documents

Gather and submit these documents with your application package.

    Current photo ID

    • Provide 1 copy of a piece of photo ID.
    • The ID must be issued by a territorial, provincial or federal government body.

    • Ask the RCMP to:
      • send the results to your mailing address; or
      • make the results available for you to pick up.
    • Make sure to then submit the results with your complete application package.

We only require this from applicants who have:

    • lived in a jurisdiction outside Canada in the 6 months before applying for this licence; or

    • any disciplinary action against you.

Ask the regulatory body of each jurisdiction you practice in to provide a certificate.

    • You must provide a certificate for each jurisdiction.

    • Have the regulatory body send the certificate(s) directly to Professional Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
