Purpose of the trip: Premier Silver joined Canada’s Premiers for the annual meeting of the Council of the Federation held in Saskatoon. Discussions on shared priorities included growing local and regional economies through pan-Canadian economic or “utility” corridors and reducing trade barriers and increasing labour mobility within Canada. All Premiers agreed on the importance of strengthening Canada’s position in the Arctic as climate change refocuses the world’s attention on the North.
