What we’re working on: fall 2020

It’s been a few months since our last update and now it’s time to take stock of our project updates on the government’s websites, citizen engagement, open data and online services.

Websites

Digital Service Delivery Guide

The Digital Service Delivery Guide is where we’ll share the government’s standards, guidance and processes for digital service delivery. We’ve re-organized and rewritten the content and we’ll publish the site in November. We’ll add the French pages as we complete the translations.

Yukon.ca and related sites

Yukon.ca

We’re currently working on the phase 7 release of Yukon.ca. Our improvements include a better search experience, the introduction of scheduled publishing, design and accessibility enhancements and many small but significant changes to different page templates.

As we’ve mentioned before, the transition of department web content to Yukon.ca has been a major focus of ours for more than 3 years. The aim was to create 1 website for all of the government.

On September 30, 2020, we crossed the finish line. Read the blog post about transitioning department websites to Yukon.ca.

Conflict of Interest Commissioner

The Conflict of Interest Commissioner website is now fully translated and live.

EngageYukon.ca

EngageYukon.ca is the government’s citizen engagement website. Work to migrate the engagement pages to Yukon.ca is underway. Once this is completed, we’ll turn off the EngageYukon.ca website.

Lotteries Yukon

We’re planning to build a new Lotteries Yukon website. While that work is underway, we launched an interim site in September.

Citizen engagement

Bang the Table is the government’s new citizen engagement platform. We’re working toward integrating it into our digital portfolio. Once this is complete, we’ll be ready to provide a new online engagement experience for citizens.

Open data

We’re working on a back end update to the open data portal, implementing bug fixes and feature updates. This update will also ensure compliance with the latest accessibility standards and provide new tools for loading data.

Online services

We’re currently working with departments to deliver the following online services.

Class 1 minerals modernization

This service has been live for 3 years. Our work on phase 4 improvements is moving ahead and planned for early December.

COVID-19 related online services

Since our last update post in August, we’ve launched the following COVID-19 online services.

Donate to Yukon Archives

This is a service where the public can donate materials to Yukon Archives. The latest improvements are in User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Once they are reviewed, we’ll deploy them. Find out about donating to Yukon Archives.

Energy efficiency rebate service

This service will allow Yukoners to apply for an energy efficiency rebate online and conduct an energy audit of their home. We’ve completed some initial user research, the vendor has started to build the system and we’re working on developing the content.

Improve online access to all government services

We’re looking at options to streamline the process for citizens to sign into the government’s online services.

Legislative drafting and publishing

We’re developing a new system where we’ll be able to publish up-to-date versions of acts and regulations more efficiently. We expect to have legislation on the site in the new year.

Liquor licensing, inspections and permitting

Work is underway on this online service for users and people who run facilities where liquor is served or sold. The public and businesses will be able to apply for liquor licences. The government will be able to approve, issue and enforce licences.

Open information

We’re developing the government’s open information portal. The portal will support our commitment to proactive disclosure, which is when the government releases information before it’s requested. It will be a companion to open data and will include government reports and publications.

On launch, we’ll begin publishing:

  • the auditor’s final reports;
  • completed Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP) requests;
  • privacy impact assessment summaries;
  • the organizational structures of each department; and
  • the organizational responsibilities and function of each department.

Professional and regulatory licensing system

The project team has selected a vendor to build this service. Once it’s built, users will be able to apply for licences online or view a list of licensed Yukon professionals.

YuDriv system replacement

This is a single system that will replace multiple existing systems the Government of Yukon, City of Whitehorse Bylaw and the RCMP use. This is a 3-year project and we’ll begin work the public-facing parts of this service in early 2021.

YukonBids – eProcurement

The 1st phase of this bids&tenders service is now live.

Yukon driving mobile app

Work on the driving app is ongoing. Once it’s launched, the public will be able to use it to learn about features and amenities along the territory’s roads.

Yukon Lobbyist Registry

We’ve just launched the Yukon Lobbyist Registry. This is a site for lobbyists to report their lobbying activities and anyone who wants to see who’s lobbying the government and on what topic.
