Health care

  • Licensed child care spaces in Yukon are limited to critical and essential workers and vulnerable families in response to COVID-19 pandemic.
  • A respiratory assessment centre is open in Whitehorse to support people with acute respiratory illness who need medical assessment. Yukoners will be referred to the centre from 811, a family physician, Yukon Communicable Disease Control or a hospital emergency department.
  • Yukon hospitals have suspended all non-urgent or routine services. Hospitals will continue to provide urgent emergency care. No visitors are allowed at Yukon hospitals, with few exceptions.

Travel and borders

  • As of April 20, Transport Canada requires air passengers to wear non-medical masks.
  • As of April 17, increased Yukon border restrictions have been introduced in response to COVID-19 under the Civil Emergency Measures Act. Learn about the restrictions https://yukon.ca/en/health-andwellness/covid-19/border-enforcement-durin...
  • Anyone entering Yukon will need to check in with an Enforcement or CBSA Officer and provide their destination, contact information, and declaration.
  • The Canada-U.S. border is closed to non-essential travel. Avoid all international travel.
  • If you have travelled outside Yukon in the last 14 days, you must self-isolate for 14 days as soon as you arrive in Yukon. This is mandatory. Learn more at https://yukon.ca/en/information-self-isolation.
  • People in Atlin, Lower Post, Fraser, Jade City, Fireside or Pleasant Camp are exempt from the 14-day self-isolation period, provided they have not travelled outside of Yukon or their home community in the past 14 days.
  • Avoid non-essential travel into and out of Yukon and travel to Yukon’s rural communities. Residents of rural Yukon communities are advised to limit their visits to Whitehorse if possible, and to work together with neighbours to coordinate picking up groceries or supplies.

Businesses and financial relief

  • The Government of Canada has announced $9 billion in financial aid for post-secondary students. Students will be eligible for $1,250 a month from May through August.
  • The benefit is available also to students who have jobs but are making less than $1,000 a month.
  • The Government of Yukon released guidelines for the delivery of critical, essential and other services. Learn more at https://Yukon.ca/essential-critical-services-covid-19.
  • The Governments of Yukon and Canada have taken steps to support local workers and businesses. Visit Yukon.ca/Work to learn more about these measures.
  • The Government of Canada has extended eligibility for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB).

  • A full list of the Chief Medical Officer of Health’s orders and advice can be found on Yukon.ca. Orders are now enforceable under the Civil Emergency Measures Act (CEMA).
