A state of emergency was declared on March 27, 2020. It was extended for another 90 days on June 12, 2020.

Travel and borders

  • Stricter rules and additional entry conditions will be imposed on travellers transiting through Canada to Alaska: https://www.canada.ca/en/border-services-agency/news/2020/07/covid-19-st...
  • Canada and the U.S. have extended border closures to non-essential travel until August 21.
  • Residents of BC, Nunavut, NWT and Yukon are allowed to travel back and forth without the need to self-isolate for 14 days,
  • Individuals entering Yukon’s airports must wear a mask and the Government of Canada will now require temperature screenings for all passengers.

Enforcement and other guidelines

  • Phase 3 will begin on August 1, 2020. Phase 3 is anticipated to take Yukon through until a COVID-19 vaccine is available. Phase 3 allows for planned, seated events in rented spaces with a maximum of 50 people. Seated outdoor events with 100 people will also be allowed.
  • Starting on August 1, Yukoners can increase their household bubble to three to five families, with a maximum of 15 people in a bubble.
  • As of July 20, 2020, some vehicles with out-of-territory licence plates will be provided with a visitor decal when they enter Yukon at a border check station: https://yukon.ca/en/news/july-22-2020-covid-19-update
