The Yukon Film Development Fund encourages the growth and development of the Yukon film industry. The fund provides financial support to help Yukoners cover the costs of developing a production that will be filmed in the territory. Our funding is non-repayable except upon sale or transfer to a non-Yukon resident or company.

Who can apply
You must be a Yukon:
- resident who has lived in Yukon for 365 days; or
- corporation majority owned by Yukon residents who own a minimum 51 per cent of the project.
The project must have a broadcast development agreement, or a distribution arrangement.
Who cannot apply
Distributors, broadcasters and/or broadcast affiliates are not eligible to apply.
How much funding is available?
Our contribution will be based on the lesser of:
- up to 50 per cent of the actual Yukon expenses to a maximum of $35,000; or
- 33 per cent of total project expenses.
An additional $10,000 may be available to you:
- if the broadcaster or distributor needs more senior professionals attached to the project; and
- they are not available in Yukon.

Eligible projects may include:
- acquiring the property;
- writing script drafts;
- budgeting;
- packaging of stars, director and other creative personnel; and
- obtaining production financing.
Corporate overhead and producer fees directly related to the project are eligible. These cannot exceed 15 per cent each of the total budget or 30 per cent combined.
Professional services
Professional services not available in the territory may be eligible. Preappoval by Media Development is required. If approve, these are considered to be Yukon expenditures.

- All development cash expenses expended in Yukon consistent with the standards established by Telefilm Canada and the Canada Media Fund.
- Research, script writing, and costs associated with casting, scheduling, acquisition of financing and location selection.

- Non-cash expenditures, such as, in-kind contributions, contributed labour, materials or services and deferred expenses
- Prizes, awards, rewards and gifts
