All general dentists and dental specialists working in Yukon must register, hold a licence and renew it every year.

    Renewal period

All dentist and dental specialist licences expire annually on March 31. Submit your renewal application before March 1. This ensures we can process your application before your licence expires.

It's illegal to work in the new licence year before we've renewed your licence.

    Eligibility

You're eligible to renew a resident or a non-resident general dentist or dental specialist licence if you meet all of the following requirements.

    • You hold a current resident or non-resident general dentist or dental specialist licence for Yukon.

    • You have met all continuing competency requirements.

If you’ve had any complaints, disciplinary or criminal action against you, please note:

    • we will assess your eligibility for registration or licensure on a case-by-case basis; and

    • you may not be approved for registration or licensing.

  2. Complete the renewal application form

Complete all sections of the renewal application form. Do not leave a section blank. You may enter “not applicable” when it's relevant. We may return incomplete applications.

    Tips

    • At the top of the application form, choose a general or specialist licence renewal, or both.

    • You must also select resident or non-resident licence.

If you do not have a document with this information, then you may complete the verification of completed continuing education form. Complete this form with either the course provider/instructor or your supervisor.

    Continuing competency exemption request

Meeting your continuing competencies is a legal requirement. We review exemption requests on a case-by-case basis and do not accept all requests.
