We offer a rebate for installing a Level 2 electric vehicle charger.
Rebate amount
50 per cent of the purchase and installation costs up to a maximum of $750 for 1 charger at a personal residence. This includes:
- single detached homes;
- duplexes;
- triplexes; and
- mobile homes.
50 per cent of total costs up to a maximum of $4,000 per installed charger for:
- multi-unit residential buildings;
- commercial buildings; or
- institutional buildings.
This includes municipal and First Nations government-owned buildings.
The rebate is based on costs related to the installation and supporting infrastructure for:
- equipment;
- labour;
- electrical upgrades;
- construction;
- contracting expenses; and
- professional expenses.
Eligible chargers
We consider all dual-port charging stations to be 1 charging station for this rebate.
Personal residences
Eligible chargers must be:
- 240 volt plug with output power between 3 kilowatt and 20 kilowatt; and
- WiFi enabled.
Commercial, institutional, apartment and work buildings
Eligible chargers must be:
- 240 volt plug with output power between 3 kilowatt and 20 kilowatt; and
- connected to a network. View our list of commercial network-capable chargers.
Eligible purchase dates
You can apply for the rebate if you purchased your Level 2 charger on November 14, 2019, or later.
Eligible applicants
- Property owners with residences or buildings located in Yukon.
- Only 1 rebate per personal residence.
- Multiple rebates are available for other building types up to a maximum of 10 chargers per location.
Apply for the rebate
- Purchase and install a Level 2 charger
- Complete the rebate application form.
- Include:
- copies of your receipts or invoices with zero balance owing;
- specifications sheet of the charging station(s) installed; and
- a copy of your electrical inspection report.
- Submit your rebate package to the Energy Branch.

Personal residences
- Contact an electrician to confirm there's enough space for an electric vehicle charger on the electrical panel and service line.
- You must contact your utility (ATCO Electric Yukon or Yukon Energy Corporation) to determine if a service upgrade is needed.
- Have a qualified electrician complete the installation and get a copy of the electrical inspection report.
Multi-unit residential, commercial, and institutional buildings:
- Contact an electrician to confirm there's enough space for an electric vehicle charger on the electrical panel and service line.
- Contact the Energy Branch and your electrician to learn about infrastructure upgrades you could do to make your building electric-vehicle ready. This can help you install future chargers at a lower cost.
- You must contact your utility (ATCO Electric Yukon or Yukon Energy Corporation) to determine if a service upgrade is needed.
- Have a qualified electrician complete the installation and get a copy of the electrical inspection report.
