Find out about tipping fees in rural communities

Introduction of fees

Tipping fees came into effect in the areas around Whitehorse on August 1, 2020.

Tipping fees come into effect at Destruction Bay, Champagne, and Pelly Crossing on May 1, 2025.

All facilities will eventually have tipping fees. Everyone will pay a similar cost for the same service.

How much will fees cost?

Tipping fees will be based on fees at the Whitehorse dump. For example:

Household waste$1.50 per bag
White goods with refrigerant (e.g. refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner)$50 per item
Scrap metal (e.g. clean tank or drum, scrap iron, bicycle, metal furniture) - small pickup load$45 per load
Free store items$1.50 per bag
