Government of Yukon launches new website and visual identity

The Government of Yukon today launched Yukon.ca, a new website built to help users find the government information and services they use most.

Visitors to the site will get quick access to important and frequent tasks such as vehicle registration, applying for a child care subsidy, or obtaining a hunting licence right from the homepage.

The website was built on a user-centred model following research into how users accessed and interacted with the old Government of Yukon website, from the information visitors tended to look for, to areas where content was difficult to find or understand. The content has also been completely redesigned to make it easier to read, understand and act upon.

The launch of Yukon.ca also marks the rollout of the Government of Yukon’s new visual identity. Over the past 40 years, the Government of Yukon has accumulated a diverse and inconsistent range of sub-logos.  Nearly all of these will now be replaced by a single logo and collection of graphic elements that reflect Yukoners’ values. The new logo is at once familiar, modern and clear making it easier to identify government services, information and locations.

The website will continue to improve as more content is added and user feedback is incorporated. Users are encouraged to use the feedback buttons on each page to offer their thought, which along with website analytics and user testing, will be used to enhance the user experience of the new site.

This new website will improve the delivery of online services and provide Yukoners with the information they need in a clear and accessible way. It also showcases our new visual identity, which unifies all government departments under a clear, single brand.
