If you've received 2 doses of COVID-19 immunization, with the last dose before August 16, and you are not significantly immunosuppressed due to illness or medication: self-monitor for symptoms through September 17. 

Partially or unvaccinated

If you're partially-vaccinated (1 dose only, or 2 doses with the last dose received after or on August 16) or unvaccinated, or are fully immunized but with significant immunosuppression: self-isolate until September 13, inclusive, and then self-monitor for symptoms through September 17.

Continue to follow the current Yukon guidelines, including isolating and arranging testing if symptoms develop.

The office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health issued a closure notice as a result of transmission within a daycare.

Child care programs

Several daycare centres are now exposure locations for COVID-19. Yukon’s Chief Medical Officer of Health issued a recommendation that if parents are able to do so, they should keep children home from child care programs for the next 2 weeks.

Whitehorse Emergency Shelter

Yukon’s Chief Medical Officer of Health declared an outbreak at the Whitehorse Emergency Shelter. An outbreak is when 1 or more persons tests positive in a congregate living setting. 

The shelter has a COVID-19 operational plan and is working with Yukon Communicable Disease Control and the CMOH to ensure practices align with the evolving COVID-19 situation.

July 31, 2020: Dawson and Whitehorse

2 people from another jurisdiction tested positive shortly after returning home from a trip to Yukon. The Chief Medical Officer of Health completed a risk assessment and concluded that the risk to local people is low.

Whitehorse Emergency Shelter

Yukon’s Chief Medical Officer of Health declared an outbreak at the Whitehorse Emergency Shelter. An outbreak is when 1 or more persons tests positive in a congregate living setting. 

The shelter has a COVID-19 operational plan and is working with Yukon Communicable Disease Control and the CMOH to ensure practices align with the evolving COVID-19 situation.

    • Real Canadian Superstore between 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 1; and

July 31, 2020: Dawson and Whitehorse

2 people from another jurisdiction tested positive shortly after returning home from a trip to Yukon. The Chief Medical Officer of Health completed a risk assessment and concluded that the risk to local people is low.

Anyone who develops any symptoms of COVID-19, no matter how mild, should self-isolate and arrange for testing. 

Possible exposure in Dawson 

  • Between Monday, July 20, 2020, and Wednesday, July 22, 2020

If you're in Dawson and you've developed symptoms after these dates phone Dawson City Hospital to arrange for testing on:

  • Saturday, August 1; or
  • Sunday, August 2.
