Art exhibit by Continuing Care residents opens this week

An art exhibit featuring the work of residents in Yukon’s continuing care homes opens this week at the Yukon Arts Centre Community Gallery in Whitehorse. The show runs from September 6 through 29.

The exhibit, titled Artistic Expressions, features the works of more than 10 residents from Birch Lodge, Thomson Centre, Macaulay Lodge and Copper Ridge Place. It includes paintings, drawings, carvings, felt and crochet works, beadwork, photography and written work.

Yukoners are invited to attend an opening reception on Thursday, September 6, at 5:30 p.m.

This exhibit is a beautiful collection of art expressing the experience of long-term Yukoners. I really look forward to seeing the skills and stories our elders have been kind enough to share with us.

Minister of Health and Social Services Pauline Frost
