Yukon campers will now have a longer season to enjoy the great outdoors. Campgrounds will open as early as May 1 around the territory, subject to site conditions.
This is the earliest that Yukon campgrounds have ever opened. This extension stems from a commitment in the Yukon Parks Strategy, which launched in 2020.
Territorial parks and campgrounds will still have all necessary measures in place to ensure safe use of our shared spaces during the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes restricting those in transit to or from Alaska and not allowing self-isolation in our government campgrounds.

It’s been a long, cold winter for Yukoners. We know people are really looking forward to camping and enjoying our beautiful parks. We are very pleased to fulfil our commitment in the Yukon Parks Strategy and to give everyone extra time to explore the outdoors.

The Yukon Parks Strategy was launched in 2020 and outlines a number of commitments to guide the Government of Yukon’s management and development of parks and campgrounds for the next 10 years. Extending the camping season was one commitment outlined in the strategy.
