A Canada Day statement from Premier Silver

Premier Sandy Silver issued the following statement for Canada Day:

This weekend Yukoners are celebrating Canada Day across our territory. Whether it be lakeside at a favourite campground, at a community parade, or in a backyard surrounded by friends and family, we all have a lot to be thankful for when it comes to being Canadian.

Canada Day is also an opportunity to stand together for our future while honouring our past. It is important to remember that the story of our country stretches back millennia and that the land we celebrate on today is the traditional territory of Indigenous Peoples.

This Canada Day weekend let us celebrate the history that makes our country rich, the diversity that makes our country vibrant and the shared values that make our country the best in the world.

I am truly honoured to be celebrating Canada Day at home in Dawson City and wish all Yukoners safe and happy celebrations across the territory.
