Contract awarded for multiple projects in Old Crow

This news release has been corrected and updated.

Stantec has been awarded the owner’s advisor contract for the planning and construction of a community Health and Wellness Centre and a mixed-use, 10-unit housing complex in Old Crow.

The Health and Wellness Centre will replace the existing health centre and provide both health and social services with a collaborative care model. The 10-unit housing complex will provide housing stock that will help address community housing needs.

Planned construction of a winter road to Old Crow in 2021 will provide access to the community and help facilitate the transfer of building materials and goods to the community for these projects.

Correction: An earlier version of this news release indicated that Stantec is the owner advisor for the winter road. However, the winter road was not included in Stantec's owner's advisor contract.

The Government of Yukon is proud to be working with the Vuntut Gwitchin government to improve and modernize the services available in Old Crow. A winter road will allow us to coordinate several projects to improve service delivery in the community while creating economic opportunities for the people of Old Crow.

Minister of Highways and Public Works Richard Mostyn

The mixed-use housing project will provide safe, healthy housing that will be responsive to emerging needs in the community of Old Crow. The new health and wellness centre will introduce a collaborative care model that will improve services for residents. We will continue to work with the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation to make sure we are addressing the community housing and health and wellness needs of seniors, families and individuals.

Minister of Health and Social Services and Minister responsible for the Yukon Housing Corporation Pauline Frost
