Court petition filed to appoint receiver for Yukon Zinc

The Government of Yukon has filed a petition with the Supreme Court of Yukon seeking the appointment of a receiver to act for Yukon Zinc Corporation at the Wolverine mine site. This action is to move forward on several outstanding issues with the mine’s owner. These issues include financial security owed and non-compliance related to water management at the mine site.

The petition is scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court of Yukon on August 1, 2019.

The Government of Yukon is taking this step to safeguard the public interest as well as ensure ongoing environmental protection at the Wolverine mine site.

Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources Ranj Pillai
