Government of Yukon and Yukon First Nations meet for first Yukon Forum of the year

Joint news release with the Council of Yukon First Nations

Yukon’s Premier, Cabinet members and First Nations Chiefs met today for the first Yukon Forum of 2018.

At today’s meeting the leaders discussed important shared priorities including procurement, infrastructure funding, education and health and wellness. They also reviewed progress being made under the Joint Priority Action Plan, including the completion of an agreement that clarifies how resource royalties are shared under Chapter 23 of the Final Agreements.

Through the Yukon Forum we are looking at long-standing issues with new eyes and seeking innovative and collaborative solutions together. The resource royalty sharing implementation agreement is just one tangible example of how we can advance reconciliation when we work together on the interpretation and implementation of the Final Agreements.

Premier Sandy Silver

The Yukon Forum continues to provide a venue for government-to-government discussions on important issues that impact Yukon First Nations.
