New food service opportunity coming to Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport

The Government of Yukon is modernizing the restaurant area within Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport and will be putting out a tender for food services this spring. The existing Shanthi’s Airport Restaurant is closing on February 27 after serving travellers for close to a decade.

Renovations to enhance the facilities and maximize space will start in March and continue throughout the summer. The goal is to have new food services in place by the fall.

Food and beverage options will continue being available within the airport gift shop, vending machines and at nearby hotel restaurants.

Modern restaurant facilities at the Erik Nielsen airport will improve the experience for tourists and locals alike.

Minister of Highways and Public Works Richard Mostyn
