Statement from Minister of Community Services, Richard Mostyn on Firefighters’ National Memorial Day

Minister of Community Services, Richard Mostyn has issued the following statement:

“September 12 marks Firefighters’ National Memorial Day – a day designated to remember Canadian firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty across our country.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all firefighters in the Yukon for their courage, selflessness and  dedication to keeping Yukoners and our communities safe. Firefighters in the Yukon put their safety on the line every time they respond to a call and give countless hours of their time to ensure that they can perform a job that we all count on. Thank you for putting your lives on the line to protect our homes, our communities and our loved ones.

“Today and everyday, our thoughts are with families of fighters across the Yukon and Canada who have lost loved ones, as well as firefighters who have suffered injuries and traumas while keeping their communities safe.”
