Statement from Premier Sandy Silver regarding the airplane accident near Mayo Lake

Premier Sandy Silver issued the following statement about the airplane accident near Mayo Lake.

My colleagues and I are deeply saddened by the tragic airplane accident near Mayo Lake yesterday that claimed two lives. On behalf of all Yukoners, we offer our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the pilot and passenger who were on board, as well as Alkan Air and Yukon’s aviation and mining communities, who have suffered an immeasurable loss as a result of this accident.

The safety of those who live and work in Yukon is of paramount importance to the Government of Yukon. We thank the emergency personnel and local officials who responded to this accident. We will provide all the support necessary to help the investigation into the cause of this accident, and work with our partners across the territory to prevent a similar event from happening in the future.
