Team Yukon goes to Red Deer for 2019 Canada Winter Games

Over 150 Team Yukon athletes are travelling to Red Deer, Alberta, to compete in the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Athletes will compete in several sports including alpine skiing, gymnastics, judo, snowboarding and synchronized swimming.

The games take place between February 15 and March 3 in Red Deer, with some events to be held in nearby Calgary and Kananaskis.

A pep rally was held on February 13 at the MacBride Museum to celebrate the games and pump up the athletes. The Government of Yukon provided $150,000 to support Team Yukon’s attendance at the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

All Yukoners are standing behind our athletes as they face some of the toughest competition in Canada. It takes a lot of determination and drive to reach this level of competition, as well as untold support from coaches, volunteers, parents and more. I wish all the athletes good luck in their events. I look forward to cheering them on from the sidelines. Go, Team Yukon!
