Yukon featured in first episode of Promising Practices Podcast

Canada’s Premiers have launched a podcast about promising practices in mental health and substance use. Led by Yukon Premier Sandy Silver and Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, the initiative is called Promising Practices. Each episode features innovations in rural, remote and northern communities from across the country.

The first episode is available now and features Yukon’s Mental Wellness and Substance Use Hubs, a collaborative program with Yukon First Nations partners, communities and citizens. Its goal is to help Yukoners access the help they need, wherever and whenever they need it most.

The series will run between March and June 2021 and is available at canadaspremiers.ca or on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Google Podcasts.

Yukoners are resilient, but we are not immune to mental health and substance use challenges. Now, more than ever, we must talk about our challenges, learn from one another and reduce the stigma around mental health and addictions. If you are struggling, please know you are not alone and resources are available to help.

Quick facts

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the symposium was postponed and Canada’s Premiers adapted, shifting this important discussion to a podcast format to share stories, innovations and promising practices from across the country.
