Yukoners invited to help the Government of Yukon and the City of Whitehorse improve public engagement

Joint news release with the City of Whitehorse

The Government of Yukon and the City of Whitehorse today launched Talking Together: A stronger dialogue between you and your government, a joint effort to learn what Yukoners see as meaningful engagement.

Yukoners are invited to give their thoughts on what we can do to better engage with the public and help us to become more accountable, transparent and responsive.

This partnership between the two governments is a natural fit. In October of last year, the Government of Yukon announced its new approach to public engagement – while the City of Whitehorse undertook similar activities earlier in 2017.

Yukoners will have several ways of expressing their opinions: by rating their favourite ideas for how we can improve public engagement, completing a short online survey, or by joining a public meeting or community event. Yukoners can also complete the survey by phone, or request a paper copy, by calling 867-667-5811.

The Talking Together project is open for feedback until February 26.

We believe that listening to the voices of Yukoners is a vital part of good governance. The Talking Together project provides a great opportunity for members of the public to offer feedback on public engagement, so that together we can build a better path forward. I’d like to thank Yukoners in advance for taking the time to participate.

One of the biggest parts of Mayor and Council’s job is to ask for and consider your input. This project will help us improve the way we ask, with a goal of making it easier for you to contribute your ideas to us in a meaningful way.

City of Whitehorse Mayor Dan Curtis
