  1. Determine if you're eligible

All licensed practical nurses (LPNs) in Yukon must hold a licence and renew it every year.

Complete this process if you hold an inactive practical nurse licence and want to renew it.

You must renew your inactive licence every year. All LPN licences expire annually on January 31.

    Renewal period

Submit your renewal application before December 31. This ensures we can process your licence before it expires.

Applicants who have not renewed by March 31 must apply for reinstatement and pay all necessary fees.

It's illegal to work in the new licence year before we've renewed your licence.

    Eligibility

You're eligible to renew an inactive LPN licence if you hold a current inactive LPN licence for Yukon.

If you’ve had any complaints, disciplinary or criminal action against you, please note:

    • we will assess your eligibility for registration or licensure on a case-by-case basis; and
    • you may not be approved for registration or licensing.
  2. Complete the renewal application

Complete all sections of the renewal application form. Do not leave a section blank. If a section is not relevant, mark the section as “not applicable.”

    Criminal record checks

    • You must have new criminal record and vulnerable sector checks done every 5 years.
