Purpose of the trip: Premier Sandy Silver and Minister Ranj Pillai joined Air North, Yukon’s Airline for their inaugural flight from Whitehorse to Toronto on May 10, 2022, as well as a “Yukon Celebration” hosted by the Government of Yukon, Air North, CIBC and other partners to commemorate the launch of Air North’s first-ever scheduled service between Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon, and Toronto, the capital of Ontario, and Air North’s significant achievements over the past 45 years.

Premier Silver met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as Minister of Environment and Climate Change Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Northern Affairs and Minister responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency Daniel Vandal, and Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos to discuss shared priorities, including Arctic sovereignty, critical minerals and climate change, community infrastructure, health care and mental health.
