Purpose of the trip: 

Premier Pillai attended the Council of the Federation (COF) in Halifax, Nova Scotia to share the priorities of Yukoners with Canadas’ Premiers, including:

  • the availability of affordable housing and alleviating pressures related to Yukoners’ cost of living;
  • the need for federal investment in Arctic sovereignty and security to strengthen Canada’s presence in the region;
  • building strategic, multi-use infrastructure to support local economic growth and strengthening supply chains; and
  • strategies to recruit and retain health professionals to the Yukon.

The Government of Yukon is committed to furthering collaboration with its provincial and territorial partners to promote the needs of Yukoners and all Canadians.
