Travel expense report for the Federal, Provincial and Territorial meeting on emergency management, May 23 to 25, 2018

Purpose of the trip: Ministers met to advance completion of a joint national strategy on emergency management designed to chart a course towards a more resilient future for Canada. Other topics discussed included strengthening emergency preparedness communications through the potential development of a Public Safety Broadband Network across the country and the need for collaboration between governments, wireless service providers and other industry partners to expand the National Public Alerting  System. Prior to their meeting, Ministers met with representatives of the National Indigenous Organizations to discuss priorities and emergency preparedness challenges in their communities. On May 24, a ceremony was held to honour the inaugural recipients of the Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award. Michael Smith of Yukon received an award for his outstanding contribution to emergency management.
