Hunting deer in the Yukon

You must be drawn for a permit to hunt deer in the Yukon.

Permit Hunt Authorizations (PHA)

The hunting season for deer opens on August 1 and closes on November 30.

  • There are 4 youth permits available for the core area, hunt code (DE 602).
  • There are 10 permits available for the core area, hunt code (DE 603).
  • There are 6 permits available for the periphery area, hunt code (DE 604).

To be eligible for a youth permit, you must be 14 or 15 years old at the time of application. If you are 12 or 13 years old, you may apply for weighting only to increase your chances of being drawn when you’re of eligible age.  Your earned weighting will be considered in both the youth and the open age permit zones.

Hunters must apply through the PHA lottery process. Learn more about the Permit Hunt Authorization lottery.
