Travel advisories (last updated Sunday May 12, 12 pm)
Always check Yukon511 before travelling. For highways within British Columbia, please check DriveBC before travelling.
- The Alaska Highway (BC Highway 97) south of Toad River, B.C. and B.C. Highway 77 are closed this time due to an active and extreme wildfire in the Fort Nelson area. There is no current ETA on reopening and there are multiple road blocks in place with limited space for turnaround.
- Travellers who have already entered B.C. on Highway 97 are urged to hold in place at a location with services, with Toad River Lodge being the furthest south with fuel, lodging and food at this current time, but we ask that traffic stage at stops further north to not overwhelm the capacity of our remote highway service providers. Alternate routes must be considered at this time for any travellers with southern destinations beyond Fort Nelson.
