Advantages of working in the Yukon
More than ever, we seek work that gives us purpose and brings us meaning. Our careers can help you grow your experience and make a difference in the Yukon.
Make a difference
The Yukon offers space for you to advance your career and make a real impact. Our welcoming communities make it easy to establish meaningful relationships with colleagues and neighbours.
Experience the north
The Yukon offers a lifestyle unlike anywhere else. Whether you’re into the outdoors, urban life, a vibrant arts scene, community involvement or just about anything else, you’ll find your place here.
We have all you and your family needs to settle, grow and learn, including daycares, schools and Yukon University.
We provide health and social services to a wide variety of people, from the urban capital to very small and remote communities. We’ll mentor and support you to become a part of your workplace and community.
Advance reconciliation
We take pride in living and working on the traditional territories of 14 First Nations and are committed to fostering a culturally safe and equitable health system. Our efforts include:
- Collaborating with Yukon First Nation health partners to integrate Indigenous-informed practices.
- Creating inclusive and welcoming environments that respect traditional knowledge and healing practices.
- Providing education on Yukon First Nations' history, the legacy of residential schools, and cultural humility.
- Increasing and supporting Indigenous representation within the health and social systems.
By working together, we aim to build a system based on equity, respect, and cultural safety for all Yukoners.
Help us transform
Yukon’s health system is undergoing significant change. The Yukon government, along with Yukon First Nations and health partners are building Shäw Kwä’ą/Health and Wellness Yukon/Santé et mieux-être Yukon, our first health authority. This will create an effective, integrated and population-centred system based on equity and respect for all Yukoners. This is in response to a comprehensive review done in 2019.
Bienvenue au Yukon
Yukon is the third most bilingual jurisdiction in Canada, and our Francophone community is strong and growing. Our bilingual Centre de Santé Constellation Health Centre is one example of our commitment to providing care in both official languages. If you’re bilingual or French-speaking, you’ll find meaningful opportunities to use your skills and connect with a welcoming Francophone network in the Yukon.
Celebrate diversity
The Yukon is a diverse and welcoming place. Our legislation and policies ensure inclusivity and cultural safety, supporting the recruitment and retention of professionals from diverse communities. We welcome multilingual professionals to support our growing Filipino, Indian, and other multicultural populations. Your contributions will help strengthen the Yukon’s diversity and enhance the well-being of our communities.
