Wildland Fire Management is planning to start annual prescribed burns in the Mayo area this spring. Burning could begin as early May 12 and will continue through the month as conditions allow.

The Government of Yukon is planning prescribed fire activity in the Whitehorse area this spring. Managed burning of forest fuel could begin as early as late April if conditions allow.

A wildfire burning in southwest Yukon is threatening a wilderness lodge and cabins, and is visible from the Alaska Highway near the White River. Wildfire activity increased significantly on Sunday due to hot and dry weather.

The Yukon-wide level 2 fire restriction put in place on August 7 has been lifted. This is due to decreasing fire danger risk in the forecast and a low fire response load over the weekend.
