all that it gives: selections from the Yukon Permanent Art Collection exhibition, summer 2022.

Discover the art exhibits in the Jim Smith Building

In the government’s Jim Smith Building you’ll discover several exhibits of art from the Yukon’s Permanent Art Collection.

The exhibits

In the foyer

There’s a rotating display of artwork from the Yukon Permanent Art Collection in the foyer. There are also 24 stained-glass panels by West Vancouver artist David MacLagan. These show the historical evolution of the Yukon.

Legislative Assembly members’ lounge

There’s a series of 5 hand-stitched panels titled “Women's Tapestries” depict women’s lives throughout the Yukon’s 4 seasons in the lounge. Two sisters Eve Aldis McBride and Julie Aldis designed the panels that thousands of volunteers stitched in 1975.

The Yukon Legislature

The “Departure of Persephone” is a 3-panel painting by Ted Harrison. The painting hangs in the entrance to the legislature. Inside the chamber, “Fireweed” by Joanne Staniszkis is on display behind the speaker's chair.
