There are 4 district mining recorders' offices. Each office administers mineral tenure for the district which it's in. Office staff can provide:
- information on areas that are open for staking;
- guidelines for staking;
- printing of paper maps and forms; and
- requirements for working your claim such as notifications and authorizations.
Office closure
The Whitehorse Mining Recorder's Office will be closed to appointments, but available by email or phone on March 20.
The Dawson, Mayo and Watson Lake mining recorders' offices will be closed on March 20 and 21. Staff will respond to your inquiries on March 22. For an immediate response while offices are closed, email whitehorse.mining@yukon.ca or phone 867-667-3190.

The mining recorders’ offices have moved to an appointment-based system on a permanent basis.
Contact the office 3 to 4 days prior to find an appointment time that works with your schedule. Appointments are 15 minutes long. Come prepared and, if possible, fill out your forms ahead of time.
