There are three surveys as part of this engagement
- Yukon residents: if you live in the Yukon, you can complete the public survey
- Yukon employers: If your business or organization operates in the Yukon and you employ others, you can complete the employer survey.
Note that you can also complete the public survey.
- Current and former Yukon Nominee Program participants: If you have participated in the Yukon Nominee Program within the past 3 years, the Yukon Bureau of Statistics will contact you directly to invite you to complete a targeted survey.
Each survey should take approximately 10 minutes
The Yukon Nominee Program is an economic immigration program. It is delivered by the Government of Yukon in partnership with the Government of Canada.
The program helps Yukon employers hire or retain foreign nationals when qualified Canadians or permanent residents are not available to fill positions.
Demand for the program has grown in recent years. At the same time the number of nomination allocations available to Yukon has declined.
Changes to Canada’s immigration system changes in the Yukon’s labour market have also created new pressures on the program.
The review will look at whether the program is meeting its goals in a effective, fair and efficient way. It will also look at how the program protects its integrity.
The engagement will focus on:
- how well the program meets employer and workforce needs;
- ways to improve program processes;
- labour market needs across the Yukon;
- access to information about the program;
- barriers faced by program participants;
- how well the public understands the program; and
- communication gaps.
This engagement is only about the Yukon Nominee Program. It is not a review of Canada’s immigration system or other immigration programs administered by the Government of Canada.
The feedback will help the Government of Yukon identify opportunities to improve the Yukon Nominee Program and better communicate how the program works.
The Yukon Bureau of Statistics will analyze the survey responses, and the findings will be summarized in a What We Heard report.
The findings will inform recommendations for future changes to the Yukon Nominee Program. Program changes are expected to begin in 2027.
The Government of Yukon will not be able to make every change suggested. Feedback will be considered alongside:
- program goals;
- labour market needs;
- operational requirements; and
- the Government of Yukon’s responsibilities within Canada’s immigration system.
A What We Heard report will be published on Yukon.ca. The report is expected to be available in winter 2026–27.
