Yukoner Travel Rebate Program

The Yukoner Travel Rebate Program provides a 25 per cent discount on packaged tourism experiences. Eligible tourism experience packages are available on the Travel Yukon website.

Eligibility

To apply for the Yukoner Travel Rebate you must:

  • be a Yukon resident; and
  • purchase a Great Yukon Summer Freeze experience that takes place between November 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022.

Yukoners can take multiple trips and apply for multiple rebates.

The rebate is available to all Yukon residents regardless of age. However, only adults 18 years of age or older may apply. This means a child may receive a rebate, but an adult must apply for it on their behalf.

Apply for the rebate

The Yukon Chamber of Commerce is administering this fund. After your tourism experience is complete, you can apply for the rebate through their website.

To book your package:

  1. Choose your Great Yukon Summer package on the Travel Yukon website starting October 20, 2021. Book directly with the tourism business listed.
  2. Pay for the package in full and keep your receipt.
  3. Complete the tourism experience between November 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022.

To apply for the rebate:

  1. Complete the application package on the Yukon Chamber of Commerce website.
  2. Submit the application and copies of your detailed receipts by April 15, 2022. Keep all your original receipts.
  3. The Yukon Chamber of Commerce will review and assess applications.
  4. They will send you an e-transfer at the email address listed on your application. If you indicated on the application that you want to receive a cheque instead, one will be mailed to the address you provided.

List a Great Yukon Summer package

Packages eligible for the Great Yukon Summer rebate are listed on the on the Travel Yukon website.

To list packages, you will need to request a Travel Yukon account if you do not already have one.

Packages eligible for the Great Yukon Summer rebate are listed on the on the Travel Yukon website.

  1. Review the Great Yukon Summer participant eligibility to ensure your business or organization is eligible.
  2. Find instructions on how to get a listing on Travel Yukon’s Get a Listing page
  3. Email listings@yukon.ca to request an account if you don’t already have one.
  4. Learn how to create a listing by:
    a. watching the tutorial video; or
    b. reading the listing guide.
  5. Upload your package and create a listing. You should include:
    a. a clear, descriptive, marketable title that sets the package apart from others;
    b. a 1 to 2 sentence overview in the Preview Teaser section;
    c. high-quality, descriptive imagery; and
    d. the Great Yukon Summer icon.

When you have created and listed your packages, apply to the Great Yukon Summer Campaign Development Program. You may receive up to $2000 to develop advertising for your packages. 

Apply to the Campaign Development Fund

Participant eligibility

  • Yukon tourism businesses offering activities, attractions, transportation, accommodation, and/or dining.
  • Non-government organizations featuring tourism experiences.
  • Municipalities and Destination Marketing Organizations wishing to promote their destination.
  • Yukon First Nations governments featuring tourism products (e.g., cultural centres).

For a package to be included in the Great Yukon Summer campaign, participating businesses and organizations must:

  • hold and maintain all applicable insurance, licenses and permits;
  • be in good standing with Yukon Corporate Affairs and Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board; and
  • have a website or web presence that provides clear information on cancellation and payment policies.

Partnerships

A package can be submitted by 1 individual business or as a partnership. 

If organizations partner to create a package, 1 organization must be the lead. The lead must facilitate the booking and issue the receipt.

Travellers must only receive 1 receipt from the organization, which includes the fees for the entire experience.

Package eligibility

Packages must be at least $250 CAD per person (excluding taxes), and fall under 1 or a combination of the following categories:

  • Activity/experience (e.g., guided tours, cultural experiences, etc.);
  • Attraction (e.g., cultural centres, museums, etc.);
  • Transportation (e.g., airlines, rental companies, guided van tours, etc.); and
  • Accommodation (e.g., hotels, bed and breakfasts, commercial RV parks, etc.).

Packages can not include retail items or items with a cash value, like gift cards.
