Filming on Yukon First Nations' land

First Nations’ traditional territories cover almost all of the land in the Yukon. Of the 14 First Nations in the Yukon, 11 signed modern treaties between 1993 and 2005. These First Nations governments make laws and decisions regarding commercial activities, including filming, on their Settlement Land.

Before you finalize your filming locations, you should get permission to film on a First Nation's traditional territory. You must get permission from First Nations governments to film on their Settlement Land.

  1. View maps of Yukon First Nations’ traditional territories to find out if the location you want to film is located on Settlement Land or within a traditional territory.
  2. Contact the respective First Nations government to request permission to film on their Settlement Land or within their traditional territory.
