Evacuation Alert
Klondike Valley from Henderson Corner through Rock Creek to the TH farm, including all residences on both sides of the highway, and the airport long-term parking lot
May 5, 2026 at 12:30 pm
The Government of Yukon has issued an evacuation alert for the area described above (see map). This alert is in response to the danger from ice jam flooding.
If you are in this area, you are not being asked to evacuate yet. An evacuation alert gives you time to prepare so you can leave quickly and safely if necessary.
After receiving this evacuation alert, you should:
- Review your evacuation plan.
- Put your emergency kit in an easily accessible location.
- Gather essential items such as:
- important documents (IDs, birth certificates, insurance records, banking information), emergency contacts;
- medications, medical and mobility equipment, contact lenses or glasses, infant formula, diapers.
- Make sure your vehicle is fueled and in good working condition. Make transportation arrangements if you need help leaving the area.
- Make plans for alternative accommodation. If an evacuation order is issued, emergency support services will be available, including accommodation if required.
- Make a plan for moving and accommodating livestock and pets.
- Monitor local news sources and Yukon.ca/emergencies for updated information on the status of the flood and impact on the area.
An evacuation order may be issued if the flood directly threatens people and property. If that happens, you should be prepared to leave immediately.
