Mayo evacuation alert lifted

August 23, 2023 - 1:00 p.m.

The evacuation alert issued by the Government of Yukon on August 4, 2023, for the Village of Mayo has been lifted.

The Talbot Creek fire (MA-033) has changed in status to “being held” and no longer presents an imminent threat to the community. This means residents no longer need to be prepared to leave immediately.

While the Evacuation Alert has been rescinded, residents in the area should remain up to date on emergency updates. Wildland Fire Management and the Emergency Measures Organization continue to closely monitor the situation and the public will be notified of any changes.
