Acting Chief Medical Officer of Health declares COVID-19 outbreak at Whistle Bend Place

The Yukon’s acting Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Catherine Elliott has declared an outbreak at the Whistle Bend Place long-term care home following the identification of COVID-19 cases among staff and residents in three houses.

The current situation is contained and routine outbreak management procedures are in place, including screening and testing protocols. Additional information has been shared with staff, residents and families.

Additionally, the Copper Ridge Place outbreak declared January 12 has been extended following the identification of one new COVID-19 case on January 21 during follow-up testing.

Outbreak management measures at both care homes will remain in place until 14 days have passed since the last exposure.

We are working closely with the staff and administration at both Whistle Bend Place and Copper Ridge Place to manage these outbreaks. I am reassured by the rapid implementation of control measures, and am grateful to staff and residents for their cooperation.
