Association of Yukon Communities renews three-year partnership agreement with the Government of Yukon

Joint news release with the Association of Yukon Communities and the Government of Yukon

Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn and Association of Yukon Communities (AYC) President Gord Curran have signed a renewed partnership agreement at the AYC’s quarterly board meeting on March 5, 2022. The agreement sets the foundation for how the Yukon government and the Association of Yukon Communities will continue to work together over the next three years based on principles of fairness, cooperation and collaboration.

The partnership agreement will continue to promote engagement and cooperation between the two entities, foster timely and meaningful consultation on matters of mutual concern for the benefit of all Yukoners and identify areas where there can be enhanced cooperation and collaboration. The principles and commitments contained in the partnership agreement are expected to be shared and honoured by all Yukon government departments to ensure a one-government approach.

This renewed partnership agreement is a testament to our continued shared commitments with the Association of Yukon Communities, which will help move forward our shared priorities like solid waste management, recycling, infrastructure and land development. Since the last agreement was signed three years ago, the Yukon government’s relationship with the Association of Yukon Communities has strengthened and allowed us to work together on ways to address climate change and navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. I look forward to continuing our important work together to strengthen our communities and better the lives of all Yukoners.

Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn

The ongoing and growing relationship between AYC and the Yukon government is one of best examples of collaboration between a municipal association and a territorial or provincial government in Canada. Our strong working relationship benefits our members and the communities they serve.

Association of Yukon Communities president Gord Curran
