Cannabis Yukon, the territory’s first cannabis retail store, will open on Wednesday, October 17, at 11 am, along with CannabisYukon.org, the Yukon government’s ecommerce retail site.
Both the physical store, located at 120-B Industrial Road in Whitehorse, and the ecommerce site will carry over 30 strains and 120 unique products including dried flower, milled flower, pre-rolled, oils and capsules. They will also provide detailed product and health information so that Yukoners can make informed decisions and engage in responsible consumption.
Regulations are being developed to enable the licensed private retail sale of cannabis. Once a cannabis licensing board has been established, the Yukon Liquor Corporation plans to begin accepting private retail applications in the spring of 2019.
As cannabis is legalized, we want to make sure we are displacing illicit activity and protecting public health. Our temporary retail store and ecommerce site will provide Yukoners with direct access to cannabis along with all the information they need to consume responsibly. I am asking all Yukoners to help us to eliminate the black market and ensure that cannabis is consumed responsibly. If you wish to purchase cannabis please do it through the government store or e-commerce site.
