Forty-four new lots developed in Haines Junction

The Government of Yukon has developed 44 serviced residential lots in the new Mountain Ridge / Dhäl Ghą̄y subdivision in Haines Junction as part of its commitment to increasing housing supply in Yukon communities. This project created 37 single family lots, six duplex lots and one multi-family lot within the community.

This development project provides developed lots for essential housing that will allow the Village of Haines Junction to plan for future growth to their population.

The release of these lots via public lottery will be announced in fall 2025.

Yukoners in every community deserve access to housing, and that starts with having serviced lots available. By developing 44 new residential lots in Haines Junction, we’re helping families, workers and businesses put down roots and plan for the future. Housing is one of the biggest challenges we face across the territory, and this project is another step in our commitment to increasing supply and building stronger, healthier communities.

Premier of the Yukon Mike Pemberton

Haines Junction is growing. The new Mountain Ridge / Dhäl Ghą̄y subdivision will give Haines Junction the space it needs. These lots create real opportunities for families to build homes and for the community to expand its housing options. Our team is proud to work with local partners to make sure Yukoners have access to land that supports housing, community development and long-term sustainability.

Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources John Streicker

We are committed to providing more housing availability in rural Yukon and the completion of this project is a crucial step in building a future for Haines Junction and its residents. We are proud to be supporting community growth and developing land to address housing needs. This demonstrates our government’s strong commitment to housing and shows how we are tackling the housing crisis by developing rural lots.

Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn

The Village of Haines Junction’s Official Community Plan, and the 2025 Haines Junction Housing Needs Assessment, point to the need to boost housing supply within our growing community.  The 44 residential lots within the new Dhäl Ghą̄y / Mountain Ridge subdivision will increase the supply, and variety, of available lots within Haines Junction.  We are grateful to the Government of Yukon for addressing our need for more residential lots, given the housing shortages within our community.

Mayor of Haines Junction Diane Strand
