The Government of Yukon and Kwanlin Dün First Nation will begin tree clearing in the Range Point area of Whitehorse starting December 2024.
To make way for the new Range Point subdivision, clearing trees in the development area is one of the first steps to make progress on this initiative. Residents can expect an increase in traffic, equipment and noise while crews are present. For everyone’s safety, the public should follow all signage and directions from the contractor.
When the work is complete, the public will be able to pick up fuelwood from the Government of Yukon land (cut into four-foot lengths). A free Personal Use Fuelwood permit will be required. Permit applications can be processed at yukon.ca/en/personal-firewood or in person at the Forest Management Branch office at 91807 Alaska Highway in Whitehorse. The pick-up location and access date will be available through this office.
The Government of Yukon and Kwanlin Dün First Nation have been collaborating on the Range Point Subdivision since 2021. This project addresses the housing shortage in Whitehorse by creating a new neighbourhood for Yukoners. The master plan was approved by the City of Whitehorse in August 2023.

Trees must be cleared from development sites to ensure proper grading and allow for underground construction to advance.
