The Government of Yukon has appointed Kurt Dieckmann as the chair of the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board. Dieckmann has accepted the appointment, effective May 29, 2026.
Dieckmann brings an extensive background in workplace safety and a dedicated history of creating safer workplaces for all Yukoners. He has previously served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board and as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada.
I am pleased to appoint Kurt Dieckmann who brings 25 years of experience to this role. Starting as a safety officer and later serving as President, his lifelong commitment to workplace health and safety will be invaluable as the board continues to build a culture of safety for all Yukoners.

The chair of the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board is appointed by the Minister.

The chairperson of the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board liaises with board members, facilitates board meetings and provides important leadership to the board as they oversee workplace safety and the compensation system for injured workers.

The board’s mandate is to prevent work-related physical and psychological injuries, illnesses and disabilities as well as provide comprehensive compensation to workers and their families.
