Government of Yukon launches e-newsletter service for wildfire information

The Government of Yukon is launching a new e-newsletter service to help Yukoners receive timely, easy to access information on major operational updates like prescribed burns, fire bans, as well as major fire-season news.

The e-newsletters will support the existing digital toolbox for wildfire information. E-newsletters provide a new way to access wildfire information, by receiving it directly to their inbox rather than seeking out updates online.

People can sign up for the e-newsletters to receive the same updates that are shared on the Wildfire Hub and the Yukon Protective Services Facebook page. As always, people can also phone the Fire Information Line at 867-393-7415 to speak with a Fire Information Officer.

Sign up for the wildfire e-newsletter on Yukon.ca or on the Wildfire Hub.

During wildfire season, it is important for Yukoners to access information about wildfires in the ways that work for them. This new e-newsletter is an innovative way to efficiently provide Yukoners with wildfire-season news.

Quick facts
  • The Government of Yukon has already successfully used e-newsletters to recruit wildland firefighters. Using an e-mail list, Wildland Fire Management notified hundreds of firefighter candidates to apply for openings during its winter hiring period.

  • The e-newsletter’s service provider is a Canadian company with data servers located in Canada. The Government of Yukon maintains a high privacy standard, so this tool protects people’s personal information by following both Yukon and Canadian privacy rules.
