Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn and Association of Yukon Communities (AYC) President Lauren Hanchar signed a renewed partnership agreement that sets the foundation for how the Government of Yukon and the AYC will continue working together over the next three years based on principles of fairness, cooperation and collaboration.
The agreement was signed at the AYC’s recent annual general meeting, in Haines Junction, where Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn provided remarks highlighting the Yukon’s ongoing commitment to addressing the priorities of Yukon municipalities and local advisory councils. The conference was also attended by Premier Ranj Pillai and senior government officials and staff from several departments.
The Department of Community Services acknowledges the AYC's contributions in shaping the future of our communities and making them attractive places for Yukoners to live, work, and play. At the annual general meeting, Minister Mostyn recognized the Association of Yukon Communities' 50th anniversary of incorporation.
The City of Whitehorse was also recognized for its upcoming 75th anniversary of incorporation, which will occur on June 1, 2025. Minister Mostyn presented commemorative plaques to both the city and the Association of Yukon Communities, celebrating their significant milestones.
I appreciate the Association of Yukon Communities for bringing together the territory’s elected officials and staff for a weekend of fostering deep community connections. It was a fitting occasion to renew our partnership agreement, which is a testament to our shared commitments with the AYC. A special thanks to AYC’s staff who organized this event, ensuring its success.
As we conclude our 50th anniversary conference and AGM, this renewed partnership reaffirms our commitment to collaboration and progress. We extend our gratitude to Minister Mostyn and the Dept of Community Services for joining us in marking this milestone and for the continued support in shaping the future of Yukon communities.
