The Government of Yukon is resuming construction on the Whistle Bend subdivision in Whitehorse.
Over this summer and fall construction season, the Department of Community Services is planning to:
- landscape and plant trees for boulevards and lot fronts;
- start construction on a park north of Leota Street, between Rampart Avenue and Vedder Avenue;
- develop Green Streets between Chance Lane and Scotia Lane, and Fulton Lane and Breadwinner Lane;
- design and start tree clearing and site preparation for future development phases west of Flora Avenue and Witch Hazel Drive;
- complete municipal and utility infrastructure installations south of Keno Way and west of Tarahne Way;
- prepare for stormwater infrastructure, which includes some tree clearing and trail closures in the treed area north of Mountain View Golf Course, east of Whistle Bend;
- complete general road and underground repairs in the western portion of the subdivision; and
- design transportation upgrades in partnership with the City of Whitehorse to ease traffic congestion from Whistle Bend to 2nd Avenue, along Mountain View Drive, Copper Road and Quartz Road.
As work is happening, residents can expect construction-related activities such as crews on site, road closures, some dust and noise.
The Government of Yukon is developing Whistle Bend following the City of Whitehorse’s Official Community Plan and the Whistle Bend Master Plan.
-
The City of Whitehorse is the land use authority and provides direction on development, such as location and development type through its Official Community Plan, and led and approved the Master Plan for Whistle Bend.
-
The Government of Yukon is developing Whistle Bend as the City provides subdivision approval of each phase of development.
